Gnome Desktop: Move Buttons To Right Side

If you are like me then you more than likely want your minimize, maximize and close buttons on the right side instead of the default (left side). Luckily this is extremely easy to change.

Move Buttons To Right Side

You can use the following command to move the buttons for your windows to the right side, note that you can also re-order which I did for the command below. You do not need to run this with sudo because we are applying the changes to your account, not the root account.

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout ':minimize,maximize,close'

Move Buttons Back To Left Side

If you decided that you would rather have the buttons back on the left, you can change it back to defaults with the following command. Again you can re-order the buttons into any order you like.

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout 'close,minimize,maximize'
